Hayden Mize joins the growing list of SBG Sox players excelling on the field. Selected as the Academy Sports SBG Sox Spotlight Player of the Week, Hayden plays on 12U SBG Sox coached by Reid Stover in the Jackson Division. Batting .667 last weekend, Mize hit three doubles, two triples, scoring 7 runs and driving in ten.
Playing SBG Sox since he was 9 years old, Hayden is a 7th grader at Germantown Middle School. Primarily a first basemen, he also pitches and catches for his team. A proud member of the second most loyal baseball fanbase in America...Hayden is a fan of the Chicago Cubs. Hayden's keys to success: not thinking too hard, having fun, and hitting lots of buckets of balls in the garage over the winter.
Each week during the Spring and Summer seasons Academy Sports + Outdoors presents the Spotlight Player, as voted by SBG Sox coaches and administrators. The nominations are from all age teams in all youth age groups playing that weekend, and are based on the performance of that tournament. Each weekly selection will receive a $20 Gift Card from Academy Sports, good at any location.
At the conclusion of each month, a Spotlight Player of the Month will be selected and recognized for his overall performance for the month. The monthly selection will receive a $50 Gift Card from Academy Sports, good at any location.
