Congratulations to Ava Plaisance, named the Academy Sports SSG Softball Spotlight Player of the Week for week 3 in March.
Ava plays for Coach Plaisance in the 12U Auburn Division. She has pitched 4.0 innings to lead her team pitching, with 5 strikeouts without an earned run. Her team went 2-1 for the weekend and are 3-1 to start the season.
Plaisance is a 6th grader at JF Drake Middle School in Auburn, Alabama. Her primary position is pitcher, and her favorite college softball team is the Auburn Tigers. With an outstanding start to the Spring Season she contributes her early success to a laser focus on location....and lots of practice. A winning formula, the staff looks forward to seeing her continue to develop and help her team win.
Each week during the Spring and Summer seasons Academy Sports + Outdoors presents the Spotlight Player for both baseball and softball, as voted by SBG and SSG Sox coaches and administrators. The nominations are from all age teams in all youth age groups playing that weekend, and are based on the performance of that tournament. Each weekly selection will receive a $20 Gift Card from Academy Sports, good at any location.
At the conclusion of each month, a Spotlight Player of the Month will be selected and recognized for their overall performance for the month. The monthly selection will receive a $50 Gift Card from Academy Sports, good at any location.
