SBG Sox at the 2D Hub City Classic

The Annual Hub City Classic was held in Hattiesburg this weekend, with 100 HS Showcase teams joining the NCAA Regionals hosted by USM for some great baseball in the area.


The SBG Sox teams turned in an impressive showing in the tournament, with many teams playing into the championship bracket play...


2026 Teams

SBG Sox Prime went 4-0 to advance, with the top 2 seeds playing in the Championship Game. They defeated the MS Rangers, T5M, Aces National and NOCA to gain the top seed, meeting the Dead Red in the Championship and coming home with the trophy 9-6.


The Legends 26 and Prospects 26 were in the hunt for the final game, with the Prospects 26 coming up short in its final game to finish at 2-1-1. The Legends were 3-1, dropping out of the 2nd seed due to a tiebreaker.


NOTABLE: Preston Sanford (Prospects 26) batted .857 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI; Nico Crechale (Prospects 26) had 3 RBI batting .571; Luke Pevey (Legends 26) batted .556 with 3 RBI; Nash Segrest (Legends 26) had 3 doubles and 4 RBI batting .500 and pitched 4 innings with 0 earned runs; Owen Couxillon (Legends 26) pitched 6 innings, giving up only 2 runs on 3 hits;


2025 Teams

SBG Sox Scout 25 earned the top seed and a bye, with wins over the Southland Hogs, LA Knights Crusaders and Impact Baseball. Scout met the SBG Sox Prime 25 for the semifinal game, winning their pool with a 2-1 performance including wins over Sticks Baseball and NOCA. They were seeded #5 with the top 8 seeds advancing to bracket play. In the semifinal game between Scout 25 and Prime 25, Prime advanced to the Championship earning the runner up with a loss to the NOLA Monsters Micheu.


SBG Sox Legends 25 earned the 7 seed with a 2-1 record with wins over the LA Knights Skippers and Sticks Baseball. Advancing to the semifinals with a win over the East Bay Elite 5-4, they dropped a 9-5 decision to the eventual champions.


Consolation Games included American 25, Prospects 25 and National 25.

National 25 won their consolation game with a win over the Sticks Baseball. Prospects 25 picked up a win over the Sticks Baseball and National 25 won over the Sticks.


NOTABLE: Cohen Weinhofer (American 25)batted .600 with a 1.418 OPS; Caden Williamson (American 25) had 8 Ks in 4.1 innings pitched; Ty Estridge (Prime 25) batted .750 with a homerun, double and triple; Ben Kennedy (Prime 25) batted .556 with 2 doubles and pitched 5.2 Innings with 6 Ks; JP Abt (Prime 25) pitched 5 Innings with 6 K's and a 1.40 ERA; Barrett Kuhn (Legends 25) batted .727 with a double and 3 RBI; Braxton Rea (Legends 25) pitched 4.2 Innings with 4 Ks, Drake Williamson (Legends 25) pitched 4 Innings with 4 Ks and a 1.75 ERA; Simon Kruppa (Scout 25) batted .600 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI, pitched 4 Innings 4 Ks and 0 earned runs; Landon Hawkins (Scout 25( pitched 8 innings with 10 Ks and 3 earned runs;


2024 Teams

SBG Sox Prime 24 earned the 1 seed after going 3-0 in their pool with wins over the Louisiana Outlaws, LA Knights Parkview and Performance Lab Sox by a combined 42-4 score. Prime 24 advanced to semifinals with a 15-4 win over the LA Blues, then road into the finals with a 4-2 win over the Alabama Raw Dogs. They finished up the day with a Championship victory over the NOLA Monsters Galloway 9-8.


Sox American 24 advanced with a 6 seed from their pool with wins over the Sticks Baseball, LA Mustangs, and winning the quarterfinal game with an 8-0 win over the Elite Squad, ending their day with a loss in the semis to the NOLA Monsters Galloway.


Scout 24 advanced to bracket play with the 7 seed with wins over the MS Bulls, Central Prospects and Impact Baseball. They lost their quarterfinal game with the NOLA Monsters 6-5 Sunday morning.


SBG Sox National 24 & Legends 24 both lost in consolation games.


NOTABLE: Reese Littlejohn (Legends 24( batted .833 with 2 doubles; Cade Clinton (Legends 24) batted .714 with 2 doubles and 2 triples; Dylan White (Legends 24) pitched 4.2 Innings with 10 Ks; Ethan Williamson (Legends 24) pitched 4 Innings with 6 Ks; Connor Watkins (American 24) batted .545 with 2 RBI and 2 runs, pitched 5.1 Innings with 10 Ks and 0 Earned Runs; Carter Hathcock (American 24) pitched 7 Innings with 9 Ks and 0 Earned Runs; Ethan Mallett (Scout 24) hit .545 with a double, triple and homerun with 9 RBI; Logan Fontanelle (Scout 24) pitched 6.1 Innings with 13 Ks, and 0 earned runs; Cade Miles (Prime 24) hit .438 with a double, 2 triples and a homerun, with 12 RBI and 11 runs scored; Jackson Hood (Prime 24) pitched 2.2 Innings with 7 Ks and 0 Earned Runs.


2023 Teams

The SBG Sox Prime 23 and Scout 23 both won all of their pool games, with Prime 23 winning over Cubs, LA Knights Parkview and Impact Baseball. The Scout 23 pool games included wins over the Sticks Baseball, Team Louisiana and NOCA. Both teams advanced to the Silver Bracket Championship, meeting with Scout 23 earning a bye and Prime 23 advancing to the semifinals with an 8-3 win over the MS Rangers Wesson team. In the semifinal game, Prime 23 took the win over Scout 23 6-3 before defeating the Southland Hogs Red 3-0 in the Championship game.


The Legends 23 defeated the LA Knights Crusaders 6-3 in their Consolation Game. The SBG Sox American 23 defeated the Jones County Dirtbags 6-5 and the Sox National lost their Consolation Game 6-4 to the LA Nationals.
